"Cliff Ahead! Change Direction QUICK!"

How many of you remember James Dean? This young star is still hailed today for his intensity and skill on the screen. Unfortunately, Dean's career was cut short by his premature death in an automobile accident. The term "speed kills" was certainly true for the young actor when a drunken driver and the lightening fast speed of Dean's Porsche were added together. Trying to avoid the impaired driver, Dean lost control of his vehicle and America lost a rising star with the potential of Brando or Orson Welles. In the movie "Rebel Without a Cause", one of the pivotal scenes was the "chicken race". In this scene, two cars race toward a cliff to test the nerve of each driver; whoever jumps from their car first was the "chicken". The horror of this scene is, when in trying to leap from his car, Dean's rival gets his jacket caught on the door handle, and his car races over the cliff while he frantically is trying to free himself. The crowd stood petrified, frozen in horror, then, they all ran for their lives, trying to escape the realization and the responsibility of what had just happened. This film is hailed as one of Dean's very best, as he showed every shade of emotion from joy to sorrow and anger to great love; he ran the entire gamut pulling his audience along with him. Dean certainly knew how to move his fans. He was a most believable ACTOR!

We now are only two weeks away from the November elections, and the gloves are off in every contest. Our President races from one state to another in a last ditch effort to sway voters in the direction he has charted for our nation. Issues have somehow been conspicuously absent from most of his speeches, focus on slogans and name-calling seem to be the focus of his messages. Health-care is oddly absent in all of the campaign rhetoric. I thought this was the crowning achievement of Obama's first months in the Oval Office! Mr. Obama has used the analogy of a "car caught in a ditch" in regards to our failing economy (you know, huge debt and gigantic unemployment). He said we are now out of the "ditch" and back on the road. It seems most of America is still "hitch-hiking", as we haven't been able to get our "stalled economic engines" to turn over. Mr. Obama also said "Now that we are out of the ditch we should continue forward; put the car in "D" (Democrat) not "R"(Republican), and go backwards!" Oddly, the direction we seem to be driving is into further federal debt! Our unemployment is also going in the wrong direction! Our trade deficit growing and is also moving away from America! What kind of a road map is Mr. Obama using? Is our current Chief Executive playing "chicken" with American economics?

Are we heading toward the cliff of certain death at "hot-rod" speed? Are we stuck in a political vehicle that will send us over the edge of national oblivion? We need to stop Obama's car now, before it's too late! Obama's "Cause" is reason to rebel against it! America, let us all band together and "SLAM ON THE BRAKES!" Mr. Obama, I don't want to go over your cliff!
