Do you remember Matt Dillon? Matt was
the U.S. Marshall in Dodge City on the television show “Gun Smoke”; the
toughest, roughest, most honest, quickest draw in the entire “T.V. West”. No
matter what the odds were, Matt Dillon stood against those who chose the life
of the outlaw. He always took the side of “law and order”. Matt took his “oath”
seriously and gave every citizen of Dodge City equal protection under the law.
He often said things like this; “As long as I wear this badge, everybody in
Dodge will be treated fairly no matter who they are!” Matt Dillon was a lawman
who stood by his principles and the public trust he held. I certainly wish
every person who had the power and responsibility to uphold the law, had the integrity
of Matt Dillon.
The Chief Legal Officer of the United
States is our Attorney General. This is an office of great responsibility;
every citizen depends on this official to follow the laws of the land, and
enforce them without prejudice, regardless of race, creed or political
affiliation. Everything that is done from this high office should be done
within the boundaries of the United States Constitution in all of its
amendments and initial rights. No crime should be overlooked nor, should there
be any selective enforcement of any law. The Attorney General of the United
States should be America’s “Matt Dillon”.
Our present Attorney General is Eric
Holder. Our current Attorney General is now under questioning from a
Congressional Committee for withholding evidence in a Congressional Investigation
in the “Fast and Furious” scandal, and is being considered for a Contempt of
Congress charge. Mr. Holder has also been under scrutiny for failure to
prosecute voter intimidation against New Black Panthers in the last
Presidential Election. Former members of the Justice Department have testified
to a policy of non-prosecution of “black” alleged offenders in any case.
Our most important franchise is our
right to vote. The Florida Attorney General is trying to institute a program to
find out who all the legal voters are in that state, and have requested
information from the Federal Government to verify citizenship so they can
“clean up” any illegal voters. This policy is being fought by the United States
Attorney General’s Office! Somehow, our current Attorney General feels it is a
Civil Rights infringement to inquire about legal citizenship when allowing
someone to vote in an election. Now, I may just be a “country boy” from a
Mid-West town, but I’m pretty sure this is part of Mr. Holder’s job. Anything
that insures our election process is legal and above board, is a good thing.
I’m sure I’m not the only American that wants only American citizens voting in
our elections. NOBODY ELSE HAS THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN AMERICAN ELECTIONS, BUT
AMERICANS!!
Do any of you find it unusual that our
current Attorney General refuses to prosecute those who intimidate voters, yet
files suit against a state that is trying to promote legality in the election
process? What agenda is Mr. Holder pursuing? Does Mr. Holder believe people
other than legal American citizens should be allowed to vote in our election?
Why is he against “cleaning up” the voting rolls to insure the integrity of any
elections in any part of America?
The real question is “Should Eric
Holder remain the Attorney General of the United States of America?” I don’t
think he measures up to “Matt Dillon”!
