"It's a Bird; It's a Plane; OOPS, NO IT ISN'T!!!"

Remember “Clark Kent” from the “Superman Comics”; the “secret identity of the “Man of Steel”. I grew up reading “Superman”, “Batman”, “Flash” and “Aqua-man”, along with many other “super heroes” who appeared on the ink colored pages of those cherished volumes. All of those heroes had certain things in common; they all had “neat costumes”, they all were “good guys”, and they all had a “secret identity” so they could mingle with the “regular people” when they weren’t fighting “super villains”.

Over the course of my readings as a youth, there were many times when some “Evil Genius” would plot to assume the identity of the “super hero”. Some of the people of the unsuspecting “Metropolis” fell, “hook, line and sinker” for the unsavory imitator; while others, who were more familiar with the “Hero”, were sure they “smelled a rat”. The “Evil Genius” wanted to deceive the citizens of the city by trading on the reputation of the real hero, even though he was the exact opposite of the hero.

If it was possible to be a hero in the Republican Party, it would probably name Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. These two former Presidents represent the ideals that the GOP would like to reflect in every one of its candidates for office at any level. These men were both great believers in the “Exceptionalism” of America and the greatness of the American Constitution.

Last week, our President,Barack Hussein Obama, made a statement that Ronald Reagan could not survive in today’s “radical” GOP. Mr. Obama seems to feel that a party which wants strict interpretation of the Constitution, a strong national defense and a strong free market economy would somehow not fit well with the beliefs of Ronald Reagan. Mr. Obama has his problems with the TEA Party, yet I certainly believe Ronald Reagan would have totally embraced the TEA Party philosophy, and they would have embraced him right back! Reagan is famous for saying “the most frightening thing one can hear is, I’m from the government and I’m here to help you!” I believe everyone in the GOP feels the same way about too much government interference in the lives of American citizens. The idea that “Dutch Reagan” wouldn’t do well in today’s Republican Party is LUDICROUS!

Obama is now trying to say his “TAX THE RICH” philosophy is the same plan President Reagan endorsed while he was in office. All the facts regarding the Reagan Tax Plan are available in the public record, and I recommend that every person who believes Barack Hussein Obama should look this stuff up; then compare them to our current President’s plan.

The more we see of Barack Hussein Obama, the more we hear him trying to compare himself to Ronald Reagan; when in reality, Mr. Obama is more like a clone of Jimmy Carter; except with a much more devious agenda.

You can put on a “Red Cape” and strut around, but that doesn’t make you “Superman”, and if you try to “Fly”, you will fall “flat on your face”. No matter how much Barack Hussein Obama tries, he will never be Ronald Reagan, but he may be the “Bizzaro Reagan” (for all of my Superman followers).

"1964 in HINDSIGHT"

What is hindsight? Hindsight is the ability to look backward, and re-evaluate a previous action or decision. We have all practiced this in the past in regard to one or more decisions in our lives; sometimes it can be as simple as “I should never have ordered that soup”, other times it can be as complicated as “I never should have moved into this neighborhood”. I’m guessing there are times that George W. Bush sits in his living room and says, “If I knew then ,what I know now…”; but as the man says, “Hindsight is always 20-20”. Some decisions must be made in a hurry, like a policeman making an arrest, there isn’t always time to negotiate before taking action. Later, that same officer, may say he would have liked to do things differently, but there just wasn’t the time.

In November of 1963, America didn’t have a choice; in a split second Lyndon Johnson became the President of the United States. Our nation went into trauma mode as we watched John F. Kennedy laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. It would only be one year before the next Presidential Election and until 1:00P.M. CST in Dallas Texas, on November 22, 1963 it was presumed that John F. Kennedy was going to run again.

Lyndon Johnson was thrust into the role as the sitting President, and the presumptive nominee of the Democrat Party the next year. On the coat-tails of an assassination, Lyndon Johnson took the mantle of the Democrats in the 1964 election.

Unlike his predecessor, Johnson was a real “new deal Democrat”; he believed in large government spending and welfare. Those of you who are about my age must remember the “War on Poverty”; a fiasco that ushered in the “welfare mentality” that America has been burdened with ever since. LBJ had the Vietnam War land right in his lap, and he tried to escalate it until media pressure caused him to “re-think” his policy to one of rationed power, rather than full use of our military for complete victory.

LBJ faced Senator Barry Goldwater (R-AZ) as his opponent in the ’64 election. Goldwater was a staunch conservative, practically the polar opposite of Johnson. He was a believer in free market capitalism, and small federal government, much the same as Ronald Reagan. Mr. Goldwater believed in a strong military and dealing with tyranny through strength, much like Ronald Reagan.

In “hindsight”, it surely looks as if we would have been much better off with Goldwater as our leader during the Vietnam War. I don’t believe Mr. Goldwater would have been swayed much by media pressure, and perhaps Vietnam would have had a better end for America; but as I said earlier, “hindsight is 20-20”.

Yesterday, our President, Barack Hussein Obama, said this year’s election will be similar to the election of 1964. He believes the presumed nominee, Mitt Romney, is the new Barry Goldwater, so I guess that makes Mr. Obama the new LBJ. Well, I guess that is a fair assumption if you believe that tax and spend is a core belief of both of these men. It seems Mr. Obama believes that Mr. Goldwater shares some traits of Mr. Romney, and would be wrong for America. Romney has shown that he is a believer in the free market economy, just like Goldwater and Reagan. Romney believes in a strong military, just like Goldwater and Reagan, so perhaps Mr. Obama has a point. So I have to ask this, “Would it be bad to have a President that believes in a free market economy, and a strong military sitting in the White House?” Mr. Obama, you are correct in saying there is a real choice in the next election. We can choose “strength and freedom” or “tax and spending”. I already know where Mr. Obama stands; how do you feel America?

"Episode II: The Return of THE EVIL GENIUS!"

As a young boy, I remember many hours sitting in front of our television watching reruns of old movie serials on Saturday morning. The most popular serials were “Flash Gordon” and “Buck Rogers”; both starred Larry “Buster” Crabbe. Usually three episodes were aired on Saturday, along with cartoons and other kid’s fare. Flash or Buck were always in the business of saving earth from terrible villains, mainly “Ming the Merciless” and “Killer Kane”, who were constantly trying to “CONQUER THE UNIVERSE”.

Each episode always ended with “our hero” in some precarious predicament which looked inescapable and deadly. The narrator would give a few words like “What will Flash do now; how will he escape!!?” This was followed with the words on the screen “To Be Continued!” There were endless situations and endless amounts of episodes, and every kid watching didn’t want to miss even one of them. By today’s standards, they were pretty hokey; the costumes were a mix of kitchen utensils and swords from an old King Arthur movie. The “rockets” were miniatures suspended by wires with sparks flying out their backs; nothing like the CGI technology we have today, but exciting none the less.

Let’s look back at our own “Serial” which has taken place over the last 40 months. “Planet America” has been in great jeopardy from the “Giant Debt Monster” and the “Unemployment Zombies” who are allied with “Occupying Bloodsuckers”. An “Evil Genius” has taken over the “American Palace” and he is determined to feed the “Giant Debt Monster” even more of the people’s treasures, while the poor people suffer from the attack of the “Unemployment Zombies”, whose army continues to grow with the addition of the “Illegal Invaders” from the south. The “Evil Genius” also created his own “Green Monster” that is also eating huge chunks of the national treasure, and gives nothing in return. The “Evil Genius” has even consulted with another devious leader, the “Eastern Ironman” about ways to weaken the defenses of his own people, so the “Eastern Ironman” could easily conquer territory with little resistance. The only defense the people have is a “Magic Document”, which the “Evil Genius” had tried to hide from the people with his “Golden Tongued Sword”; because of all the things in America, the “Magic Document” is the thing he fears the most!

We are near the end of the “First Episode” and the “Evil Genius” is continuing his attack on the “Magic Document” with great vigor. We have even seen a preview of what he has in mind for America if we don’t use our “Magic Document” quickly. We have overheard his private thoughts with the “Eastern Ironman”. We have heard his plans to continue to feed the “Giant Debt Monster” and the “Green Monster” with more of the American treasures. He has been a friend of the “Illegal Invaders” and the “Occupying Bloodsuckers”, and they are standing firmly behind him in his quest for more power.

What will America do next? Is there someone out there who will use our “Magic Document” to defeat the “Evil Genius”? Can the American people be fooled again by the “Golden Tongued Sword”? STAY TUNED AMERICA; TO BE CONTINUED!!

"Understanding; In The Third Grade"

Our Constitution was established over 230 years ago. I don’t know how long our public educational system has been in existence, but it has been a pretty long time. I remember my third grade teacher; her name was Miss Pettigrew, and she was the first person I remember telling me about the different branches of our Federal Government; the Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial. She spent some time telling us about the responsibility of each branch of our government. Now I know that what I learned in the third grade may sound a bit unbelievable, but way back in the 1950s, this was the way things were done. I think the reason I’m so interested in the workings of our government can be traced back to teachers like Miss Pettigrew.

In the post WWII world, people seemed to be a little more focused on how great our American way of life was, and why it was so great. We learned quite a bit about our early history, and why it was molded the way it was. Our Founding Fathers tried to make sure that no branch of government could dictate to the people; we have “checks and balances”, and I learned that in the third grade! Every law and policy must stand the test of Constitutionality. Regardless of how good the intent of any law or policy may be, they are not allowed to go outside the boundaries of Constitutional limits.

When FDR pushed through some policies to help out during the Great Depression, the Supreme Court disallowed some of them, as they were overreaching the power that the President had and were Unconstitutional.

The reason Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life is so there can be no undue influence used to sway a Supreme Court decision. No politics are ever supposed to enter into a decision by the Supreme Court. As a simple analogy, we can look at the Supreme Court as the “measuring stick” in applying the Constitutionality of ANY LAW OR POLICY, and if they don’t “measure up”, then they are thrown out.

Usually our Congress tries to make sure the laws they pass will pass muster with the Constitution; sometimes they don’t. Not all members of Congress are Constitutional lawyers, and it shows. Just because a law passes through the House and the Senate, and is signed by the President, doesn’t mean that it is Constitutional. If grounds are sufficient, any law or policy may be challenged in court. No politician has the ability to dismiss the Supreme Court as exceeding its authority when judging the Constitutionality on any of the above described issues.

Obamacare is now being scrutinized by the Supreme Court in regards to the bill’s Constitutionality, and our President, Barack Hussein Obama, isn’t too happy about this. Mr. Obama has openly criticized the authority of the land’s highest judiciary in this matter.

Barack Hussein Obama was a teacher of Constitutional Law, yet it seems he doesn’t understand the most basic principles and responsibilities our branches of government have under the Constitution. I don’t think Mr. Obama would have done very well in Miss Pettigrew’s third grade class in 1955. I think the American people need a President that has a working understanding of our Constitution; Barack Hussein Obama just doesn’t get it!

"Eternal Consequences"

In the Christian community, this is our most important week; it even overshadows Christmas, as it is the fulfillment of the prophecy of the Messiah who will free mankind from sin and provide eternal salvation from death, Hell and the grave.

When I was a small boy, Easter meant chocolate rabbits and colored eggs, new clothes and a big family dinner on Sunday. I like big family dinners; family is very important to me. A gathering of family is usually a joyous occasion (excluding sickness and death, of course). As a boy, we would all sit at our table enjoying roast leg of lamb, baked ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, fresh bread and pasta (of course) and all of the other Italian delicacies that always accompany a family dinner. After dinner, we would have an Easter-Egg hunt that encompassed the entire house; children were running everywhere to retrieve dozens of colored hard-boiled eggs. Then the Easter Baskets arrived, filled with candy of all types, enough to rot all the teeth in the Chicago-land area. Just like all family dinners, there was much laughter, hugging and kissing from aunts, uncles and cousins. We Italians are an emotional lot, you know!

Unfortunately, we didn’t discuss too much about the meaning of Jesus’ resurrection after His sacrifice on the cross at Calvary. Perhaps there are a number of you who are reading this who also don’t know very much about the real Easter Celebration. If you are offended by Jesus, I am not. It is not my intention to enrage or agitate any of you, but it is my duty, and my pleasure, to talk about Jesus.

Why did Jesus die on the cross? Many people don’t know the answer to that question. For generations the children of Abraham made “blood sacrifices” to atone for sins in their lives, which extended back to Adam’s fall from grace in the Garden of Eden. In Genesis, the Lord said he would provide a sacrifice that would give mankind a chance to return to a right relationship to Him, through the seed of the woman.

For centuries, prophecy spoke of exactly how the Messiah would return to “pay the price” for man’s weakness in sin. I will not go through all of the Old Testament to show how this all ties together, but if you are curious, it is all in His Book!

In Genesis, we are punished with death through our sin nature, a nature that makes salvation through our own acts impossible (we all sin). God, through His love for man, provided us with a perfect sacrifice through His own Son, Jesus; who, in obedience to the Father, gave up His life as propitiation for our iniquities. He then rose from the dead, in victory over death and Hell, providing us with a way to come back to the Lord. Jesus offers us the gift (through grace) of eternal life; all we have to do is accept it and follow Him in obedience to God.

Some of you that read this will dismiss it; others might want to know more about it. I’m not a person of small intelligence (I’m not trying to boast), and I have studied this to a great extent. Even if you examine this with only cold logic, it will come together; God will speak to you, I promise!

The decision you make about your spiritual life is more important than any other decision you will ever make about anything else, even a Presidential Election. On this Resurrection Sunday, I urge all of my readers to find out who Jesus really is; you can buy a Bible for less than $2.00, or a local church will probably give you one. Please get a Bible, please read its message; the decision you make will have “eternal consequences”. God Bless you all!!

"What is HE HIDING!?"

“God Bess America, land that I love…”: these words start one of America’s most beloved songs, and we have heard it at parades and ceremonies for virtually all of our lives. I really like that phrase “land that I love”, because I really love this country. I’ve benefitted from living here, I have served America in my youth, and I now am watching her go through some really tough times. I have never believed America should take a backseat to any nation or organization; I guess I’m a throw-back to those old “America-Firsters”, and I’m proud to be that way! I believe in a powerful America, not a nation that wants to “run with the pack”, but a leader which others respect and follow. I believe that any person who holds the office of President of the United States should never even consider allowing America to take second seats to any other nation or organization. I believe we need to know as much as possible about every person who seeks this office, or, we could and possibly have, put the wrong man in office.

George W. Bush, our President before Barack Hussein Obama, has a pretty open book about his life. He was a C-student while in college, and that is no secret. We don’t know about any of Barack Hussein Obama’s grades, as his records from Occidental College, Columbia College and Harvard College are all sealed from the public. Mr. Obama’s Master’s thesis is also sealed from the public.

George W. Bush served as a Captain in the Air National Guard, and this is a matter of public record. Barack Hussein Obama has had his Selective Service Registration sealed from the public, I wonder why?

George W. Bush has his entire record as Governor of Texas open to public inspection. Oddly, Barack Hussein Obama has his entire Illinois Senate record and schedule sealed; does that seem strange to you? Mr. Obama claimed to be a transparent candidate, yet it seems there are several areas that he doesn’t want the American public to see.

We are not a nation that tries to “pick fights” with other people. Pearl Harbor and 9-11 certainly weren’t instigated by the United States. We like peace in America, we don’t do “sneak attacks”! Barack Hussein Obama said “...(he would like to) conduct ourselves like the nations of ISLAM, where PEACE prevails…”. Where PEACE prevails? What planet is he on?

I want a patriot for my President! I certainly have my doubts about the patriotism of Barack Hussein Obama. Mr. Obama has said this: “We, as a nation, have placed upon the nations of Islam, an unfair injustice which is why my wife DIRESPECTS THE FLAG and she and I have attended SEVERAL FLAG BURNINGS in the past.” Flag burnings from a man who sits in the Oval Office; I’m ashamed he is our President! When interviewed about his flag burning statement, he said ”I (am) about to become the President of the United States, and I have to put MY HATRED aside, and I will use my power to CHANGE this nation…”!

My fellow Americans, the man who now sits in the highest office in our land said he “put aside his HATRED” for America’s Flag. America needs to wake up before November, and find out what sits in our White House. He is the man who was endorsed by the Communist Party in 2004 and 2008, and he is being endorsed AGAIN! Save America and keep Obama from a second term of destruction!

"Lottery Desperation"

Last week America had its largest lottery prize ever at a record of $640,000,000!: that is a huge “chunk of change” by any standard; that is even more money than Barack Hussein Obama lost on the SOLYNDRA debacle! All across the country, people were trying to buy tickets to have a chance at this gigantic sum, after all, it was over half a billion and that is certainly worth a buck!

Yesterday, I stopped to top off my gas tank, five gallons cost me $20.00, and that will last me the rest of this week; I don’t drive very far. That $20.00 could have been spent on the “dream ticket”, but cars don’t run on dreams.

I’m retired now and I’m pretty careful with a dollar; some of my friends probably think I’m cheap. I like to think I have my priorities straight when it comes to finances. Those of us that are in our “golden years” are a bit more frugal than the young and impulsive folks. Many people over the last few years lost much of their life savings due to the recession and this stagnant recovery, but what is worse, is that many Americans have not been able to advance from poverty because of these severe economic conditions and things seem hopeless to them.

Friday, the network news programs showed lines that were blocks long, filled with people waiting to buy that “special ticket”; what they failed to show was the amount of poverty level folks that were spending their money on that “special ticket”. People who are making $13,000 or LESS are spending 9% of their weekly income on different lottery games on a regular basis! Last Friday, Americans spent $1,491,082,267 on this lottery jackpot. The chance of winning this jackpot was 1 in 176,000,000; it would be much easier to be hit by a comet at midnight at the North Pole, during an eclipse, than to win this lottery prize!

Our nation is on the verge of great financial destruction as fuel prices rise and employment is at a crawl. People have watched every failed attempt of the Obama Administration to find a remedy and our populous is becoming desperate. When you have a weekly income of $225, and you are spending $25 on lottery games, you are a desperate person; you see no opportunity, and you are grasping at straws because it looks as if there is nothing left.

As we continue to face skyrocketing fuel prices, Mr. Obama refuses to do anything other than offer platitudes about his clean energy program, and asks for even more funding for programs like SOLYNDRA. He has touted the building of “half a pipeline” as a victory, even though he had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. He offered a budget that was so ridiculous that not a single representative, neither Democrat nor Republican gave a positive vote. Although employment numbers have moved slightly, they are well below what is required to move out of this recessive cycle, yet Obama claims success.

If America wants real success, we need to make a real change in Washington. We need a responsible Senate and a responsible White House. If that change doesn’t come in November 2012, we might as well wait at the North Pole during that eclipse so we can get hit by that comet, because things won’t be getting any better here any time soon!!
